469 - ما يَنبَغي مُراعاتُهُ فِي التَّحديثِ‏

469. What Must Be Observed when Transmitting Traditions

1429.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : لا تُحَدِّثوا اُمَّتي مِن أحاديثي إلّا بما تَحْمِلُهُ عُقولُهُم .1

1429.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Do not narrate to my people from my traditions except those which are perceptible to their intellects.' 2

1430.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : إذا حَدَّثتُم بِحَدِيثٍ فَاسنِدُوهُ إلَى الّذي حَدَّثَكُم ، فَإن كانَ حَقّاً فَلَكُم وَ إن كانَ كَذِباً فَعَلَيهِ .3

1430.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Whenever you narrate a tradtion, document it to the person from whom you have narrated it. If what he has said is true, its benefit will be yours, but if he has lied, its harm would be against him.' 4

468 - جَوازُ نَقلِ الحَديثِ بِالمَعنى‏

468. The Permissibility of Transmitting the Meaning of the Tradition

1427.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : لا بأسَ في الحَديثِ قَدّمْتَ فيهِ أو أخَّرْتَ ، إذا أصَبْتَ مَعناهُ .1

1427.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'It does not matter if you change the order of the words of a tradition, as long as you render its meaning [exactly].' 2

1428.بحارالأنوار عن محمّدِ بنِ مُسلمٍ : قلتُ لأبي عبدِاللَّهِ عليه السلام : أسْمَعُ الحَديثَ منكَ فأزيدُ وأنْقُصُ . قالَ : إن كنتَ تُريدُ مَعانِيَهُ فلا بأسَ .3

1428. Muhammad b. Muslim narrated, 'I asked Abu Abdillah [al-Sadiq] (AS): "I hear a tradition from you and then I add to it or subtract from it." He said, 'If you [do this] intending its meanings, then it does not matter.' 4
