349. PERFECTION

1619 - كَمالُ الإنسانِ‏

1619. PERFECTION OF MAN

5617.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : العاقِلُ يَطلُبُ الكَمالَ ، الجاهِلُ يطلُبُ المالَ .¹

5617.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'The intelligent person seeks perfection and the ignorant person seeks possession.' ²

5618.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : مِن كمالِ الإنسانِ ووُفورِ فَضلِهِ استِشعارُهُ بنفسِهِ النُّقصانَ .³

5618.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'In the perfection of the human being, the existence of his merit lies in his own feeling of inadequacy.' ⁴

5619.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الكمالُ في الدُّنيا مَفقودٌ .⁵

5619.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Perfection in this world does not exist.' ⁶

5620.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : كمالُ الرجُلِ بسِتِّ خِصالٍ : بِأصغَرَيهِ ، وأكبَرَيهِ ، وهيئَتَيهِ ؛ فأمّا أصغراهُ فقَلبُهُ ولِسانُهُ ، إن قاتَلَ قاتَلَ بجَنانٍ ، وإن تَكَلَّمَ تَكَلَّمَ بلِسانٍ ، وأمّا أكبَراهُ فعَقلُهُ وهِمَّتُهُ ، وأمّا هَيئَتاهُ فمالُهُ وجَمالُهُ .⁷

5620.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'The perfection of a man lies in six features: in two of his smallest [features], in two of his largest [features], and in two of his apparent [features]. As for two of his smallest [features] - his heart and his tongue - when he fights he fights with his heart and when he speaks he speaks with his tongue. Two of his largest [features] are his intellect and his determination, and his two apparent [features] are his wealth and his beauty.' ⁸

5621.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : كمالُ الإنسانِ العَقلُ .⁹

5621.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'The perfection of the human being is the intellect.' ¹⁰

5622.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : مِن كمالِ المَرءِ تَركُهُ ما لا يَجمُلُ بهِ .¹¹

5622.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'of the perfection of a person is that he leaves what is not appropriate for him.' ¹²

5623.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : تَسَربَلِ الحَياءَ وادَّرِعِ الوَفاءَ واحفَظِ الإخاءَ ... يَكمُلْ لكَ السَّناءُ .¹³

5623.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Clothe yourself with shyness and armour yourself with loyalty; protect brotherhood...., and your eminence will be perfected.' ¹⁴

5624.الإمامُ الباقرُ عليه السلام : الكمالُ كُلُّ الكمالِ التَّفقُّهُ في الدِّينِ ، والصَّبرُ علَى النّائبَةِ ، وتَقديرُ المَعيشةِ .¹⁵

5624.Imam al-Baqir (AS) said, 'Perfection, all of perfection is education in religion, patience over misfortunes, and apportioning one's livelihood.' ¹⁶

5625.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : ثلاثُ خِصالٍ مَن رُزِقَها كانَ كامِلاً : العَقلُ ، والجَمالُ ، والفَصاحةُ .¹⁷

5625.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'There are three features that whoever is blessed with is perfect: intellect, beauty and eloquence.' ¹⁸

1618 - فَضلُ طيبِ الكَلامِ‏

1618. THE MERIT OF KIND SPEECH

(وَقُولُوا لِلنَّاسِ حُسْناً) .¹

"And speak kindly to people." ²

(وَقُلْ لِعِبادِي يَقُولُوا الَّتِي هِي أَحْسَنُ إِنَّ الشَّيْطانَ يَنْزَغُ بَيْنَهُمْ إِنَّ الشَّيْطانَ كانَ لِلْإِنسانِ عَدُوّاً مُبِيناً) .³

"Tell My servants to speak in a manner which is the best. Indeed Satan incites ill feeling between them, and Satan is indeed man's manifest enemy." ⁴

5613.الإمامُ الباقرُ عليه السلام - في قولِ اللَّهِ عَزَّوجلَّ : (وقُولُوا للنّاسِ حُسْناً)⁵ - : قولوا للناسِ أحسَنَ ما تُحِبُّونَ أن يُقالَ فيكُم .⁶

5613. Imam al-Baqir (AS), with regard to Allah's verse: "And speak kindly to people" said, 'Say to people the best of what you like to be said to you.' ⁷

5614.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله - لمّا سَألَهُ رجُلٌ عن أفضَلِ‏الأعمالِ - : إطعامُ الطَّعامِ، وإطيابُ الكلامِ .⁸

5614. The Prophet (SAWA), When a man asked him about the best of actions, said, 'The feeding of food and speaking well.' ⁹

5615.الإمامُ زينُ العابدينَ عليه السلام : القَولُ الحَسَنُ يُثرِي المالَ ، ويُنمي الرِّزقَ ، ويُنسِئُ في الأجَلِ ، ويُحَبِّبُ إلَى الأهلِ ، ويُدخِلُ الجَنَّةَ .¹⁰

5615. Imam Zayn al-Abidin (AS) said, 'Beautiful speech makes wealth thrive, increases sustenance, delays death, brings love in the family, and makes one enter Heaven.' ¹¹

5616.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : مَعاشِرَ الشِّيعَةِ ، كونوا لنا زَيناً ولا تكونوا علَينا شَيناً ، قولوا لِلناسِ حُسناً ، واحفَظُوا ألسِنَتَكُم ، وكُفُّوها عنِ الفُضولِ وقَبيحِ القَولِ .¹²

5616.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'O followers (Shia) of ours, be an adornment for us and do not be a disgrace to us. Speak well to people, protect your tongues, and prevent it from futile and vulgar speech.' ¹³
