US Scholar to Address Interdisciplinary Quranic Studies Conference in Mashhad

American philosophy professor Oliver Leaman will be among the speakers in an interdisciplinary Quranic studies conference in Iran’s northeastern holy city of Mashhad.

 

He will take part in the conference’s methodological foundations section and will also serve as a member of the scientific committee.

Leaman is a professor of philosophy and Judaic studies at the University of Kentucky in the United States.

He got his PhD from Cambridge University in 1979 and has written numerous works on history and philosophy of religion and is particularly interested in Islamic, Jewish and Eastern philosophy.

He was also the editor of "The Qur'an: An Encyclopedia”, which was published in 2006.

The international conference on interdisciplinary Quranic studies will be held on January 31-February 2, 2017, in Mashhad.

‘Methodological foundations of interdisciplinary Quranic studies’ and ‘Quran and health’ are the two sections of the scholarly event.
