Muslims Should Be Guided By Teachings of Quran and Sunnah to Strengthen Their Faith

Muslims have been told to remember the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah (sayings and practices of Prophet Muhammad) as their guide to strengthen their faith.

Malaysia's Sarawak Housing and Tourism Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said the Maulidur Rasul celebration was the time for Muslims to reflect on Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) teachings. He was speaking at a berzanji session held in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration (celebration of the birth of the Prophet), at Tan Sri Datuk Abang Haji Ahmad Urai Datu Hakim's residence in Jalan Muda Hashim, Kuching, Sunday. He said it was also important for Muslims to deepen their knowledge by reading and understanding the Quran. Sometimes when people lead a good life, they tend to forget about God. "Therefore, do not wait until the time you face hardship in life, then only you seek God's help," he added. Johari pointed out that when Muslims carried out their duty in life, it was also important to put God first in whatever they did. "Muslims in Sarawak are fortunate to be able to practice their religion freely, compared to other parts of the world when they cannot even pray in peace," he said, and reminded Muslims to remain united. The Maulidur Rasul celebration was organized by the Darul Ihsan Mosque's berzanji group and Madrasah Datu Hakim Abang Haji Mohideen, Kampung Muda Hashim women's berzanji group.
