The 32nd edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition came to a close in a ceremony held at Tehran's Summit Conference Hall on Friday evening.

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 32nd edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition came to a close in a ceremony held at Tehran's Summit Conference Hall on Friday evening.

A number of senior officials including Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Head of Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Hujjatulislam Ali Mohammadi and Head of the Parliament’s Quran and Etrat Fraction attended the closing function.

It began with Quran recitation by Hassan Danesh, winner of the first title in the competition’s recitation category, and was followed by a report presented by Hujjatulislam Ali Mohammadi about the organization of the contest.

He said 67 Quran reciters and 62 memorizers took part in the international Quranic event this year.

According to head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, which organized the contest, the jury panel of the competition comprised 10 Quran masters from Iran and 10 others from various other countries.

He further thanked the media for properly covering the international competition and its sideline programs.

Mohammad Mahdi Rajabi, who came first in the memorization category, also recited verses from the Noble Quran during the closing ceremony.

Next, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani delivered speech in which he hailed the Quranic activities in the country and thanked the organizers of the international Quran competition.

Later in the ceremony, winners of the 5 top titles in each category received their awards and the members of the jury panel were also honored.

It concluded by Tawashih (religious songs) performances by a Tawashih group from Iran’s central province of Isfahan and then recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Egyptian Qari Mahmoud Shaht Anwar.

Iran’s 32nd International Quran Competition was held here in Tehran on May 15-22, 2015, with the participation of Quran reciters and memorizers from 75 countries.
