Raul Gonzalez, Ali Quli Qara’i and Suleiman Bai-Ji-Su, who have rendered the Quran into Spanish, English and Chinese, respectively, were praised for their efforts to serve the Holy Book.

Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati and a number of other officials were present at the ceremony, which was held during the first international conference on translation of the Holy Quran.

Jafar (Raul) Gonzalez Bornez was born in 1950 into a Marxist family in Madrid. He spent some years in nature contemplating on life and creations until God, the Almighty, saved him from darkness and led him to light.

He embraced Islam in 1983 and studied Islamic sciences in the Iranian holy city of Qom in 1996-2005.

As well as the Holy Quran, Gonzalez has translated a number of Islamic works, including works by Imam Khomeini (RA), into Spanish.

Ali Quli Qara’i is a scholar and Quran translator who has dedicated his efforts to translation of the classics of Islamic literature into English.

For translating the Quran into English, he has consulted major classical commentaries of the Quran, by both Shia and Sunni commentators.

Bai-Ji-Su’s Chinese translation of the Quran was published in Iran in 2012 and unveiled at the Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition that year.

He has translated several other books into Chinese including ‘Mizan Al Hikma’ (Scale of wisdom), ‘Sahifeh Sajjadieh’, ‘Risalatul Huquq’ (The Treatise of Rights) and has penned articles on the life of Imam Hussein (AS), Imam Sadeq(AS) and Hazrat Fatima (SA).
