497. Denouncing Covetousness

1486.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام - وقد سُئلَ عنِ الحِرصِ : ما هُو ؟ - : هُو طَلَبُ القَليلِ بإضاعَةِ الكَثيرِ .1

1486. Imam Ali (AS), when asked about covetousness, said, 'It is the desire for something little through the loss of a lot.' 2

1487.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الحِرْصُ عَناءٌ مُؤبَّدٌ .3

1487.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Covetousness is a terminal [source of] distress.' 4

1488.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الحِرصُ يُزْري بالمُرُوَّةِ .5

1488.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Covetousness stains one's gallantry.' 6

1489.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الحِرصُ مَطِيَّةُ التَّعَبِ .7

1489.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Covetousness is the mount of pains.' 8

1490.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الحِرصُ لا يَزيدُ في الرِّزقِ ، ولكنْ يُذِلُّ القَدْرَ .9

1490.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Covetousness does not increase sustenance, but rather it degrades a person's value.' 10
