The second edition of Europe’s Holy Quran Competition concluded in Hamburg, Germany, on Sunday.

The closing ceremony was held yesterday at the Dar-ol-Quran of the Islamic Center of Hamburg with the participation of Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi, head of Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, Hojat-ol-Islam Ramezani, director of the center, and Hojat-ol-Islam Ansari, head of the center’s Dar-ol-Quran, IQNA’s Europe branch reported.

In an address to the ceremony, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi said such programs have many blessings including the enhancement of Islamic unity and promotion of religious spirit in non-Muslim countries.

He also praised all of those Muslim parents who strive to raise their children with the teachings of the Holy Quran.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ramezani in his speech welcomed the participants and elaborated on the objectives of the competition.

He said it was aimed at helping the contenders get more acquainted with the Holy Quran and use its teachings in their everyday life.

The cleric also referred to a Hadith by Imam Sajjad (AS) and said the Quran is a treasure and a light of guidance for all human beings.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ansari also addressed the closing ceremony and presented a report on the Quranic activities of the Islamic Center of Hamburg in Europe.

The edition of Europe’s Holy Quran Competition was held with the participation of 160 Quran activists from different European countries including Germany, Finland, Sweden, Britain, Belgium, Norway and Denmark.

They competed in the categories of Quran memorization, recitation, Quranic concepts and Adhan (call to prayers).

Hassan Sadeqi, Ali Ramezani and Samir Rajab, prominent Quran experts from Germany, formed the jury panel of the contest.
