The book, arranged in a thematic order and making reference to the Holy Quran and the hadiths of the Infallibles (PBUH), is an attempt at delineating the status, characteristics, and the responsibilities of the Basij and the Basijis. The Basij is among the most significant and lasting accomplishments of the late Imam Khomeini, which has assumed a major role in the Muslim community. In the view of the author, a number of Quranic verses that refer to predictions about the greatness of Islam and the support it will be given by the people of another race are in fact references to the Basij and the Basijis. In addition, in the hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) we see him referring to the race of Salman as the true helpers of religion and clear examples of those referred to in the verses. The culture of Basij is a culture that has derived from the Holy Quran and the hadiths of the Infallibles (PBUT), a culture that the author attempts to elaborate in the present work.

The book is arranged into five chapters.

Chapter one is devoted to the status of Basijis. Besides presenting a brief account of the leaders of Basij, it introduces the unknown Basijis as the key supporters of the Muslim comm.unity and as those who prepare the ground for the establishment of the Islamic government.

Chapter two elaborates the qualifications of a Basiji, i.e. religious knowledge, political awareness, appropriate conduct, and avoidance of vices.

Chapter three is an examination of individual, social, cultural and military duties. It deems the secret of success of the Basij and Basijis to be respect for religious, ethical and social rules, as well as the avoidance of violence.

Chapter four enumerates the factors that have contributed to the success of Basijis. These include the acquisition of necessary qualifications, respect for the capacities of interlocutors, observing the rules of being a messenger, tolerance, avoidance of strictness, avoidance of unnecessary violence, and the bearing of hardships accompanying the task of conveying the message.

Chapter five contains accounts of famous Basijis among the ranks of the companions of the Holy Prophet and Imams Ali and Husain (PBUT).

The Arabic version of the text is printed on the even pages with the Persian translation appearing on the opposite pages. The contents are arranged with the Quranic subjects appearing first followed by the hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Infallibles (PBUT). The book was published in 2002 by the same publisher, in pocket size without the Arabic text and in 200 pages. The Arabic text also appeared independently with the following bibliographical data: al-Ta`bia'ah fi al-kitab wa al-sunnah, Mohammad Mohammadi Reyshahri, with the collaboration of Ahmad Gholam Ali, Qom: Dar al-Hadith, 1st ed., 2002, 172 pages.
